All right you newbies, here is my step by step advice to help ensure that you don’t waste your valuable time, and get headed in the right direction.
If you want to play the game, your going to have to learn the rules of it. What I mean by this is that the biggest mistake and waste of time that rookies make is they try to take short cuts. Don’t, you’ll end up just wasting your time which is your most valuable commodity. There is no getting around it, your going to have to learn html. No ifs, no buts, no fancy editors, you need to start out with notepad. The good news is that there are some good tutorials available out there for you to get started. Also, it really shouldn’t take more than a week at the most to learn it, I learned it in three days.
Second, the next step is to make your web page.
Next, your going to need to promote your site, by submitting it to the search engines. Don’t submit your site to FFA (Free For All) pages, they are a complete waste of time, don’t do it. Don’t even use an automated submit service.
So now you’ve submitted your site. Good, so now that you built it, they’ll com, right? Wrong, the chances are that even though you submitted you site to the engines, it is still probably non-existent. Now it is time to learn the more advanced stuff.
Next, your going to want to learn the game of playing with the search engine algorithms.
Now, you might want to increase your web page creating skills by learning JavaScript.
Next, you will also want to learn Java.
Then PERL
Now you’re a lean mean web making machine.
